Every year, new web design trends appear – some are just visual fads, others reflect deeper changes in how we use the web.

For 2026, I see a few directions that are particularly interesting for small businesses and independent professionals.

Fewer generic templates, more personality

Users are getting tired of sites that all look the same.
We’ll see more:

  • Bold typography
  • Distinctive colour palettes
  • Layouts that reflect the brand’s personality

Focus on clarity and conversion

Design is not just decoration. The most effective sites:

  • Make the main message clear in a few seconds
  • Highlight one primary call to action
  • Use UI patterns that feel familiar and frictionless

Accessibility and performance by default

More and more teams are treating accessibility and Core Web Vitals as non‑negotiable requirements, not “nice to have” extras.
This means:

  • Better contrast and readability
  • Faster loading, especially on mobile
  • Smoother, less intrusive animations

If you want to update your current site in line with these trends, a redesign project may be the right time to rethink both design and content.
